Our charming little town Otterlo,950m from National Park the Hoge Veluwe and the Kröller-Müller Museum, in the middle of the Veluwe area, will let you wake up by birds instead of the sound of the alarm for once. CYCLING AT THE VELUWE
Grand Café Hotel Kruller is located next to the node 31 of the cycling network at the Veluwe. DThanks to this network it is easy to discover all the beauty of the Veluwe by bike. If you're planning to cycle at the National Park The Hoge Veluwe, please take note that there are the famous free white bikes to use in the Park itself.
HIKING AT THE VELUWE
There are many routes to walk or hike from our hotel. How about strolling in The National Park the Hoge Veluwe, walking the long distance walk Trekvogelpad or discover Planken Wambuis by foot. And we are happy to arrange you a guided tour with a ranger, we would certainly advise this.
PARK THE HOGE VELUWE
The National Park the Hoge Veluwe contains over 5.400 hectares woods, heats, grassland and sand drifts. Together with the Kröller-Müller Museum and th sculpture garden we can say that the Park and the Museum are a unique combination of nature, art and culture.
KRÖLLER-MÜLLER MUSEUM
The Kröller-Müller Museum boasts the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world: almost 90 paintings and over 180 drawings. The Van Gogh Gallery displays varying selections of about 40 works by Vincent van Gogh. Furthermore, you will also find masterpieces by modern masters such as Monet, Seurat, Picasso and Mondriaan.
MUSEONDER
Museonder offers a surprising look at everything that lives and lived underground. The exhibition takes you on a journey deeper and deeper underground until you reach the centre of the earth. It was worlds first underground museum.
JACHTHUIS SINT HUBERTUS
Jachthuis Sint Hubertus was designed by the renowned architect Hendrikus Petrus Berlage (1856-1934). The country Residence/Museum Jachthuis Sint Hubertus, the former residence of the Kröller-Müllers, is one of the most iconic buildings in the Netherlands.
PALEIS HET LOO
Since 1984 is (former Royal) Het Loo Palace a museum. The furnished rooms and chambers show how the Oranges have lived and worked here for 300 years. The baroque gardens have a symmetrical design, taking the garden of the 17th century as an example, and are unique in the Netherlands.
HET TEGELMUSEUM
Otterlo offers a treasure, the Dutch Tile Museum. The largest and most diverse collection of the Dutch wall tiles and tile tablets can be seen from the late Middle Ages till the ceramic of the current days.
CELTIC FIELDS
The Celtic Fields can be found at the sand drifts at Wekerom. The celtic Fields are the pre historic fields where all kinds are grains grew. If you take a look from above you will see that the fields are a honeycomb. There is a German well next to the rebuilded farm from the Iron Age. We think it is certainly worth a visit.
KOOTWIJKER SAND DRIFT
The Kootwijker Sand Drift is the largest sand drift from Western Europe. An absolute must see is Radio Kootwijk, a very special and imposing building with a unique story. It's a lovely stroll to make.
